Pitbull Puppies

Pit bull puppies are adorable like any other puppy and are in great demand for adoption. These puppies may be of a variety of colors-black, white, beige, grey, even the rarer merle and silver and fetch a high price in the market. Puppies with red noses are also in great demand. Most often, pit bulls are bred to produce puppies with qualities that may be desired.

It is advisable to adopt a pit bull in the puppy stage, as it then grows up with you. As a result, it ends up being more loyal as you may be its only master. Pit bulls may have their particular traits, which define their breed, but a puppy can be trained so that negative traits like aggression may be subdued. A pit bull that has been at your home since it was a puppy is more a part of your home.

Training is an important issue when it comes to pit bull puppies and it takes a lot of effort, but consistent and affectionate training will succeed. Pit bull puppies are known to have weak bladders and the initial few months will require it to be taken out every hour.

Training a pit bull puppy can be fun. Driving and tracking can be entertaining for both pit bull as well as the owner. More importantly, working together with the puppy on training creates a stronger bond. This doesn’t happen when training an adult pit bull. Pit bull puppies can be made to respond to verbal commands like ‘go’, ‘fetch’, ‘heel’ etc. They can be made to recall to their names. Here again there is an advantage over adults as you can teach puppy your own language and give a name of your own.

However, there are problems with puppies also. One is the difficulty in housebreaking. The teething period is another. Pit bulls puppies will chew anything, even hands and legs, so better keep kids out of reach of teething pit bull puppies. Pit bull puppies are also moody during this period and are more difficult to train.

When you adopt a pit bull puppy, you do not know what it will turn out to be. It has not yet developed its personal traits. But with proper training and lots of love, pit bull puppies can be made into good dogs.

Never Lose Your Pet Again - Discover Pet GPS!

I know the feeling of going outside and not knowing where my dog is. I hope none of the people reading this article have to experience that feeling, because it is not a pleasant one. If you already have experienced it then you know exactly what it is that I am talking about.

I stepped out and called her name “Chyna, come here girl”. Being how Chyna comes running even when I don’t want her to, when she didn’t answer I got a little worried. I went around the side of the house to look for her and could not find her anywhere!

My heart dropped because I knew she must have gotten out of the fence. This was a problem for more than one reason. Chyna is a beautiful and friendly pit bull terrier. The simple fact that she is a pit bull usually puts automatic fear into many people.

Chyna is a gentle giant, but people who don’t know her wouldn’t know that. The thought of someone taking her also crossed my mind several times. People always talk about how beautiful she is, and I of course agree 100%.

But moving along, I knew she wasn’t too far away, because she just stepped out to use the grass :). This is when I knew I would buy a Pet GPS Tracker.

If I had already purchased that Pet GPS I was hearing about I wouldn’t have had to worry about this. All I would have had to do is look at the LCD screen and get her location.

A good Pet GPS is the key to being able to rest assured your pet isn’t wandering off. I enjoy the RoamEo because it can keep up with your dog for up to 3 miles away. You can also track multiple dogs by watching your LCD screen!

You can also build a virtual fence by walking around any area that you want your dog to stay in. This tracker is a great bargain, because there are no monthly membership fees or anything like that. Once you purchase it you are ready to go! And just to let you all know, when I did finally find Chyna…she was in doggy jail and would have to stay there over the weekend. We would have never had to experience this if we had our Pet GPS. Hopefully after reading this no one else will have to endure this type of feeling!

Be sure you check out the RoamEo Dog GPS Dog Tracking system. Also take a gander at the author’s dog at http://www.tclarkpetsolutions.com

Pitbull Rescue

Pack Leader | February 12th, 2009

American Pit Bull Terriers are difficult dogs to raise-they want a lot of care and attention. Neglected Pit Bulls may become aggressive and enter into fights with other dogs and even humans. Since the 1980s there have been many incidences of scrapes, even mauling cases, involving Pit Bulls. Though the culprits of these violent attacks were a handful, there has been enough bad publicity for the episodes and it has created a phobia for Pit Bulls among the people. The last twenty years have been very difficult for Pit Bulls, what with governments banning them from their cities (Manitoba, Ontario being examples), people turning them loose in the streets or abandoning them at rescue shelters.

This is where Pit Bull rescue shelters come in. These are voluntary organizations, which take in stray and abandoned Pit Bulls, nourish them, care for them and even train them until they find an equally loving and caring owner to adopt these pets. Pit Bulls taken up by shelters are spayed and neutered, vaccinated for heartworm and given other vaccinations as may be required.

Pit Bull rescue shelters operate widely on the Internet. There are various organizations like the Pit Bull Rescue Central, Bay Area Dog-lovers Responsible About Pit Bulls (BADRAP), among many others who have their hearts in the right places when relocating Pit Bulls is concerned. These organizations accept Pit Bulls from people who may wish to abandon their dogs for whatever reason, treat them and then scout for proper homes to relocate them. Most of these organizations screen the applicants of people who wish to adopt Pit Bulls, even visit their homes and cross-check with their veterinarians.

In today’s fad-driven world, people are opting for dogs that may be bred for their looks or certain other traits. However, Pit Bull rescue teams cannot emphasize enough how much better it is to take in a rescued dog than a bred dog. For starters, it is morally better to give a home to a dog that has been rescued from some unfortunate circumstances in the past. Rescue dogs are already spayed or neutered and treated for vaccines. Most of the rescue dogs are already trained under previous owners. And needless to say, rescue dogs look upon their new owners like a messiah and will be totally loyal to them. To add icing on the cake, rescue dogs are very cheap, less than $150, while the costs of purchasing a bred dog could go up to $5000.

But there are some strings attached. As most of the dogs picked up by rescue shelters are stray or abandoned, there may not be documentation on them. Rescue homes would not know the lineages and past histories of most of their dogs. However, these are minor things when you consider the bigger picture of giving a homeless dog a home.

In Pennsylvania Its Legal to Kill Your Pet

Pack Leader | February 11th, 2009

pitbull song

A Pennsylvania Superior Court overturned a woman’s conviction for conspiracy to commit cruelty to animals for shooting and killing her 6 year old pit bull/chow mix dog. She gave her boyfriend a handgun and had him shoot and kill the dog because, she said, it bit her child. She was found not guilty because, while Pennsylvania law states that it is illegal to shoot and kill a dog or cat, there is an addendum stating that an animal owner can lawfully kill a dog or cat if its done humanely. The law does not specify or define what is a humane way to kill your pet.

This law is obviously contradictory and therefore very confusing. Because of  this State’s history with puppy mills, the Governor of Pennsylvania has sought and passed numerous laws to protect dogs and puppies from inhumane treatment. Part of the new legislation includes a law allowing only veterinarians to euthanize commercial kennel dogs.

Apparently this law does not apply to private pet owners. It is hard for me to understand why this should even be an issue, but some people see things differently. There must be people out there who keep guns in their homes and figure its best for them to deal with the “problem”, whatever it may be, themselves. The attorney for the woman whose conviction was overturned said that some people don’t have the money to have their pet euthanized at a clinic. I find this statement to be ridiculous because we all know that there are, sadly, still plenty of shelters that will euthanize pets if not adopted within a certain time period.

There was another case in Pennsylvania recently where a kennel owner shot and killed almost all of his dogs, 70 in all. He was told by inspectors that 39 of his dogs needed to be treated by a vet for flea and fly bites. He thought the state wanted to shut him down and the dogs were old so he “took care of” getting rid of them. He also said that business was so bad that he could not sell his puppies so he figured no one would want the older dogs. He will no longer be allowed to have a kennel business in Pennsylvania, but there were no charges filed for shooting and killing all his dogs. All he had to do was ask for help and shelters and rescues would have taken his dogs.

Pennsylvania has made many improvements in their dog laws aimed at eliminating puppy mills. There is still more work to do, including correcting and clarifying the law that allows dog owners to shoot and kill their dogs and dispose of them “humanely. There needs to be a clear, understandable law to deal with this issue.

Nanny Dogs

Pack Leader | February 10th, 2009

pit bulls com

Do you know what a nanny dog is?  A “nanny dog” is the name given to pit bull terriers many, many years ago. Pit bulls were called nanny dogs because they were loyal, caring companions for children.

We have forgotten that their history is of a loving, caring family pet. They were treated as a part of the family. They were loved and respected and they gave love and respect in return. Todays’ view of the pit bull is very different.

They are viewed as aggressive and dangerous animals and have been banned in many places. The pit bulls that are aggressive have been trained by their owners to be aggressive. Their nature is to love and to please the people that own them.

Our society blames the pit bulls. The blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the owners that train them to fight and to be aggressive. Dogs do not train themselves, people train them. Michael Vicks’ recent trial and conviction for dog fighting is a step in the right direction. He was held accountable for his actions and the abuse of the dogs in his care. Every person that conducts themselves in such a manner should be held accountable in the same manner.

The pit bulls should not be punished for their actions because of owners training them in inappropriate behaviors. Responsible dog ownership brings about very much different behavior in dogs.

I hope that more people will remember pit bulls as nanny dogs in the future and give these dogs a chance to show their loving, caring nature. I will qualify what I am writing by saying that I am a pit bull owner and there is no more loving animal than my “nanny dog”.

pitbull lyrics

Pitbulls are notorious for their short temperament and hostile attitude towards strangers and other dogs. We cannot blame these poor creatures for their character as it was the dog breeders who made these dogs so cruel. They actually bred them with an intention to create a new dog breed highly adaptable for dog fighting.

Initially pitbull dogs were only used for the purpose of fighting with other dogs. The name of these dogs itself act as an indicator of the work for which they were used by their owners. To make them more arrogant and violent dog fighters used to keep them inside the cage without allowing them to move freely. They were made to walk on the treadmill by their owners to increase their endurance and make them stronger by their owners. These dogs were even gripped on to and hung from ropes for making their jaws stronger and lethal.

The way they fight with other dogs or the way they attack the strangers kept common people away from owning this special dog breed meant for fighting and hunting. Considering the violent nature of these dogs many countries banned carrying them in airlines and keeping them as pet dogs in houses.

We usually do not mention the positive sides of bringing a pet like this when we discuss about the nature of pitbulls. We normally do not hear much about the friendly and affectionate nature of these dogs. It is a fact that they can be as friendly as any other dogs if trained and disciplined properly from their childhood. They will always be very protective and loved to be in the company of its family members. If you are in a position to give him the right company, he will always be loyal and obedient to you.

Pitbull Rottweiler mix is an attempt to reduce the arrogant nature of the original pitbulls. Pitbull Rottweiler mixes are found to be very less arrogant than the other varieties of pitbulls now available in the kennel market. An examination conducted by American Temperament Test Society on 23,000 dogs in 2001, certifies the temperament endurance ability of pitbull Rottweiler mix. Pitbull Rottweiler mix scored better in temperament than many other breeds that we now bring up in our households.

Pitbull Rottweiler mix is found to have all the positive qualities of a pitbull dogs. Mix with a calmer breed makes it more calm and easy to mingle with dog.

Pit Bull Training For Responsible Ownership

Pack Leader | February 5th, 2009

pitt bull

Owning a pitbull requires a big responsibility. For one, pitbull training is very important. It’s necessary for pitbull owners to do this because there have been many reports on Pitbulls attacking people or children with no reason at all. Dog owners should not stay ignorant especially when they have pitbulls under their care. In reality, the pitbull is one of the most behaved dogs on the list of breeds according to disposition or attack frequencies. Training a pitbull properly will spare the dog from attacking people. If the owner is irresponsible, the pitbull will more likely cause harm to others.

It is sad to know that there are many irresponsible owners who take pride in flaunting their fierce dog. Unluckily some of these irresponsible owners end up as the victim of their own pet. Pitbulls can actually be safe with children if you keep an eye on how your dog interacts with kids around. However, this does not mean that you have to be complacent by leaving children alone with a pitbull. You still have to keep your presence among them. Knowing how to discipline a pitbull at a very young age is very important. It is necessary that pitbull puppies socialize with other dogs even at a young age.

This is in contrast to the myth that pitbull puppies must be isolated from people or other animals. Pitbulls are actually sociable dogs contrary to the negative impressions of people on their breed. Only that many dog owners who attempt to train pitbulls fail due to lack of consistency, discipline, and timing. The latter is said to be the most important of the three. Furthermore, if you lack knowledge in the implementation of positive reinforcement on dogs, it may also lead to your failure to train a pitbull. Pitbull puppies that were not exposed to the public well have greater tendencies of attacking people or animals when they grow older.

Thus, it would be better to bring your pitbulls in places such as parks. It surely is very helpful that dog owners read guide to pitbulls prior to owning one. This way they will know their responsibilities towards their dog. Irresponsible ownership of pit bulls can cause danger to other people or even death to its victims. Pitbull puppy training can be fun and rewarding. It is in the nature of pitbulls that when they are comfortable to their environment and the people around them, they become more loving. If a pitbull gets the right training, it can contribute to their healthy development.

Aside from its health benefits, they become a more behaved and trustworthy dogs. Training your pitbull to be a protector instead of being a fiend can work so much to your benefit. Trained pitbulls can actually protect you from dangers that may happen to you like robbery or kidnapping. It is only a sad fact that pitbulls are viewed negatively in the public eye. Pitbull training is a long process. Just stick to the basic rules by reinforcing the dog’s desirable behavior and ignoring the undesirable behaviors. Surely you will have a happy and harmonious life together with your pitbull.

How You Train Is How You React

Pack Leader | February 4th, 2009

rednose pitbulls

How you train is how you will respond and react in the real deal. Self-defense is about survival and nothing else. It is not about fighting fair, clean or being honorable. Itâ??s about doing what you have to do to go home and see your loved ones once again. You donâ??t know how a thug is going to react when you connect your first blow to him so make sure you mean it when you attack. He could back off (flight) or become enraged (fight), plane and simple combat is about doing whatever needs to be done so you get out alive. Lie, con, manipulate so you can catch him off guard and administer a tactic. Release the idea from your mind the image of a â??DIRTY FIGHTERâ? there is now such thing only a fighter who survived an attack. Free your mind of that idea could mean the difference between life and death, it will subconsciously hamper your actions. You have the right to protect yourself and kill when your life is in jeopardy. When in combative mode your thoughts and actions should be as vile, vicious and violent as possible. Thoughts of legal or moral consequences of your actions should not even cross or enter your mind. If they do it will subconsciously hold you back in giving 100% in your attack and that could mean your kids or loved ones not seeing you again. The importance of training realistically or condition stimulus training could mean the difference between life and death. Training the mind to be accustomed to stimuli that is violent and vile you mean not freezing in violent situations.

Here are some tips and dirty tricks

* HIT FIRST, HIT HARD, KEEP HITTING

* Always attack in mid word, phase or sentence i.e.â? I will do anything you say, please donâ??t hurâ? ATTACK NOW. The element of surprise is on your side he is not expecting you to do anything.

* Practice saying your trigger sentence, phase or word and cueing yourself to attack when you say it. Make sure your speech is smooth and that you are not telegraphing your words or actions before attacking.

* If you are a woman use the power of â??sweet talkâ? get him to believe that you will do as he says, then turn the tables when he least expects it.

* When speaking use your hands to help you speak, set them up to deflect or to position them closer to the target area you want to attack.

*Use your surroundings, push your attacker into an object so he trips or falls. Giving you time to run off or to follow up with a more devastating tactic to immobilize him.

* Gouge, spit, throw dirt or sand in his eyes to temporarily blind him to give you those vital seconds to get away.

* Make your training as real as possible have your training partner grab you, swear, yell at you and rehearse what you are going to say before you attack

*Remember your â??TRIGGER WORDâ? to give you the signal to attack.

Pitbull Puppy Training - The Easiest Way to House Train Your Pitbull Puppy

Pack Leader | February 3rd, 2009

blue brindle pitbull

You are a proud owner of a pitbull puppy. Congrats. It could not have been an easy choice for you to get a pitbull with all the negative press they seem to get. At this early stage your pitbull puppy training is absolutely critical.

Once all the excitement of having a new pet at home is over, your new best friend will inevitably misbehave. Do you have a plan in place on how to deal with the misbehavior? Many new dog owners never take the time BEFORE they actually bring their new puppy home to inform themselves about various training methods.

My point is you need to have a well coordinated plan in place when training your pitbull puppy. If not he will chew everything he can get his mouth on from your furniture to shoes to plants. Remember your new best friend is getting adjusted to his new environment and it can be stressful on him too. The key to training your new puppy is patience and consistency.

Pitbull puppy training starts with choosing a training method that works best for you and the puppy. There are several aspects to properly train a pitbull or any dog for that matter. Your method will have to touch on crate training, potty training, obedience training, house training and leash training at a minimum. A slip up in one area can set back progress in other areas. They are interconnected and must be used correctly to have the desired positive outcome.

If you are an expert dog trainer this all makes sense to you but if you are not, it can be overwhelming. It is very simple either you train your dog or he will train you. Whatever you do, do not attempt to train your puppy on your own without help. The results will be nothing short of disastrous.

There are two options available for your pitbull puppy training either hire a professional trainer (can get very expensive but worth it if you have the money) or get one of the better online dog training programs.

I highly recommend The Secrets To Dog Training online if you are looking for a cheaper alternative. You get step by step instructions of the various puppy training tips.  A happy puppy makes for a very happy owner.

Do you have a COMPLETE training system in place for training a puppy? Get one now to take CONTROL of your puppy and make him (and yourself) happy.
